Sandwich Harbour Tour

Sandwich Harbour is 65km south of Walvis Bay with a bay in the north

and a lagoon at the southern end.   It is a natural bay

which is part of the Namib Naukluft Park.

It might have been named after an English whaling ship, the Sandwich,

which worked during the 1780's, or the name may be a corruption of

the German word "sandfische", a species of shark found in the area.

Formerly the bay was a moderately sized commercial port based

around whaling and small-scale fishing, but it is now best known

for its birdlife in the lagoon south of the bay.

Sandwich also hosted a beef cannery, other than the normal activities.

Oryx, Black Backed Jackal, Springbok, Ostrich, Brown Hyena often seen.  â€‹â€‹â€‹

How do we spend the time?

Guests are picked up at their place of choice and from there we drive to the Walvis Bay Lagoon.  The trip through the ups and downs of the Namib Desert coastal dunes, sliding down breathtaking 34 degrees slip faces.  Here dunes meet the ocean.

We visit view points and take you along the beach where birds,

seals and other desert adopted animals live.

Park permits, lunch and drinks are included.

Special dietary requirements are arranged on booking too!

Ample stops are made during the tour to enjoy lunch, take photos

and videos, climb the dunes, feel the sand and sea.

After the tour, guests are dropped off at their place of choice!
